As a viewer, it’s important to know which shows to bid farewell to. These are the comedies and dramas that have recently ended or will soon come to a close. We’ll also examine the current status of shows that are at risk of cancellation or have been renewed.
Arcane – Renewed
The highly acclaimed TV series, inspired by League of Legends, has been officially renewed for a second season. As the first season took six years to produce, it’s reasonable to assume that the next season may not be released anytime soon. Nevertheless, the wait is guaranteed to be worthwhile.
Westworld- Cancelled
Westworld has concluded its run after its fourth season. Although the gripping and futuristic TV show had captured viewers’ attention for years, there will not be a fifth season.
The Late Late Show With James Corden – Cancelled
James Corden has extended his contract for another year, but unfortunately, his talk show will be ending soon. By the end of summer 2023, he will be stepping down from the show, resulting in the conclusion of The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Conan – Cancelled
Following an impressive 11-season run, the talk show Conan, is finally wrapping up. Despite the end of the show, Conan O’Brien’s career is far from finished. He is set to transition from TBS to HBO Max, where he will host his own variety show.
Euphoria – Renewed
The popular drama series, featuring Zendaya, is set to return for another season. Brace yourself for more of Rue’s challenges alongside her friends as they navigate their individual struggles as they try to make it through high school.
Star Trek: Picard – Cancelled
Despite receiving praise from critics, the return of everyone’s beloved Star Trek captain, Jean-Luc Picard, has come to an end without the same level of affection from longtime fans of the series. The third season of Star Trek: Picard, scheduled for release in 2023, will mark its final season.
A.P. Bio – Cancelled
A.P. Bio was first canceled from its original network NBC but was then picked up by Peacock for another chance. Following the fourth season of the series, Peacock is cancelling the show. Maybe a third network will save it now!
The Mandalorian – Renewed
Disney+ has officially renewed The Mandalorian for a third season, which is expected to premiere in early 2023. Fans are left wondering where Din Djarin’s journey will take him following his appearance in The Book of Boba Fett.
Hell’s Kitchen – Renewed
Gordon Ramsey’s popular cooking competition has been granted another season. Contestants will once again compete for the opportunity to own their restaurant. Of course, the focus is not really on who can cook the best, but rather, who can endure the most rigorous punishment as we watch for our twisted entertainment.
American Ninja Warrior – Renewed
America Ninja Warrior has been renewed for yet another season. People cannot get enough of seeing these incredible feats of strength, dramatic falls, and the outfits that some of the contestants like to wear as well.
The Boys – Renewed
Even before the season 3 finale, The Boys had already been renewed for a fourth season. The show is currently taking a dark turn as Homelander’s influence grows, and Ryan is under his control. Meanwhile, there are concerns about Butcher’s condition. With the possibility of this being the final season, the stakes are higher than ever.
Doctor Who – Renewed
As expected, the wildly popular show has been renewed for another season. The role of the current Doctor in this iconic science-fiction series is portrayed by Jodie Whittaker.
Archer – Renewed
FXX has officially renewed the animated spy series Archer for a 14th season. After regaining control of their organization from their devious rival, Fabian and the IIA, Archer and his team are now headed by Lana. As the show progresses, fans can expect more of their favorite spy antics.
The Walking Dead – Cancelled
After more than a decade, the hit zombie drama will officially come to an end with a 24-episode, two-year 11th season that concludes in 2022. However, fans have much to look forward to as multiple spinoffs, including one focused on Norman Reedus’ character, Daryl, are already in the works.
Dancing With The Stars – Renewed
ABC’s popular dance competition series has been renewed for a 30th season. Host Tyra Banks, along with judges Len Goodman, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli, will all return. While it moves to Disney+, the show ranks as one of the highest-rated unscripted series on a broadcast network and has earned its place as one of the longest-running.
Squid Game – Renewed
The second season of the popular South Korean thriller show Squid Game has been announced, although it has a long production cycle, and fans may have to wait a while before seeing it. Seeing as it took years to produce the first, it might be a few years before a second season is released.
Shark Tank – Renewed
ABC has renewed the reality series Shark Tank for a 13th season. The show continues to be one of the highest-rated programs on Friday nights, and the latest season was the most-watched in three years, according to Deadline.
America’s Got Talent – Unclear
At the moment, there is no word on whether America’s Got Talent will be renewed for another season. However, the spin-off series, America’s Got Talent: Extreme, has been given the green light for a second season.
Supernatural – Cancelled
After a remarkable 15 seasons on air, the Supernatural, the dark fantasy show about two brothers that hunt demons has finally come to an end, marking the longest-running fantasy series in America.
Fauda – Renewed
The internationally acclaimed Israeli series about Doron, commander of the the Mista’arvim unit is set to return for a fourth season, with Netflix streaming it worldwide to an eager audience.
The Good Doctor – Renewed
ABC has renewed The Good Doctor for a fifth season, which is already underway. While the medical drama was the first of ABC’s scripted series to score a renewal for the 2021-22 season, it’s unclear if it will receive a sixth.
The White Lotus – Unconfirmed
HBO’s comedy-drama anthology series, The White Lotus, was a major success. The show depicts the dynamics between vacationers and the staff at the titular hotel. While a third season has not yet been confirmed, the upcoming season is expected to introduce new characters and a new location for the White Lotus hotel.
Shameless – Cancelled
After 11 seasons, the hit television series has concluded, marking the end of the Gallagher Family’s tale. While the Hall of Shame shorts provided die-hard fans with more insight into each character’s journey throughout the show, everything has been wrapped up.
Mixed-Ish – Cancelled
Unfortunately, the Black-ish spinoff Mixed-ish will not be returning to ABC for a third season. Low ratings during its sophomore season made it one of the network’s lowest-ranked shows this year.
The Irregulars – Cancelled
Netflix has canceled The Irregulars after just one season. Set in Victorian London, the series followed a group of troubled teens manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson and his mysterious business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes.
NCIS – Unknown
NCIS is currently on the fence when it comes to renewals. While it has been a franchise staple for the network for over a decade and remains one of TV’s most-watched drama series, there has been much debate over whether or not it will return for a 20th season.
100-Foot Wave – Renewed
The documentary series focusing on Garrett McNamara, who helped transform Nazaré, Portugal into a surfing tourist destination, has been renewed for a second season on HBO.
Wahl Street – Unknown
A documentary series featuring actor and businessman Mark Wahlberg juggling his acting career and various business ventures is currently in limbo. While it received a lukewarm critical response, it is unknown whether or not it will be renewed for another season.
High Maintenance – Cancelled
HBO’s pot-themed comedy has ended after four seasons, while the wildly popular comedy mockumentary series about a group of vampires going about their daily lives, an adaptation of the New Zealand film series, will be airing its fourth season on FX. In a statement for Deadline, HBO shared: “Co-creators Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair have decided to take a break from producing High Maintenance to pursue other projects. look forward to hearing what they come up with next.”
What We Do in the Shadows – Renewed
The popular mockumentary series, adapted from a New Zealand film of the same name, follows the daily lives of a group of vampires has been renewed for another season. The fourth season of the show will air on FX.
American Gods – Cancelled
After three seasons, Starz cancelled American Gods, a drama based on Neil Gaiman’s novel. However, the network is considering a movie or limited event series to give fans a proper ending.
This Is Us – Cancelled
This is it for This Is Us as the sixth and current season will be its last, just as creator Dan Fogelman had previously planned. NBC gave the show a preemptive three-season renewal in 2019.
American Idol – Renewed
American Idol, now airing on ABC, has been renewed for another new season, which will be the show’s 20th total. Host Ryan Seacrest and judges Katy Petty, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie haven’t yet confirmed whether they will return or not, but all are expected to sign on once again.
The Right Stuff – Cancelled
Disney+ has cancelled The Right Stuff, a space drama originally set to launch on National Geographic before moving to Disney+. Warner Bros. Television may try to shop the show to other networks.
Black-ish – Cancelled
Black-ish has begun airing its eighth and final season, as announced by creator executive producer Kenya Barris, who said on Twitter: “This show has changed my life in so many ways and I am so proud of the conversations we’ve started along the way.”
Bless The Harts – Cancelled
Fox has cancelled Bless the Harts after its second season due to lackluster ratings, despite a voice cast featuring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jillian Bell, Ike Barinholtz, and Kumail Nanjiani.
Don’t Be Tardy – Cancelled
After eight seasons, Bravo has cancelled Don’t Be Tardy, a reality show chronicling the lives of Kim Zolciak-Biermann, her husband Kroy, and their family. Zolciak-Biermann shared: “The Biermann family is extremely grateful for their 13-year-plus relationship with Bravo and NBC Universal.”
The Ellen DeGeneres Show – Cancelled
Ellen DeGeneres will end her long-running daytime talk show in May 2022 after 19 seasons, following a tumultuous year for both the host and the show.
Sex Education – Renewed
Netflix’s critically acclaimed high school dramedy Sex Education, starring Asa Butterfield and Gillian Anderson, will return for a fourth season after a 100% rating on the Tomatometer for its third season.
Better Call Saul – Cancelled
Breaking Bad spinoff series Better Call Saul was renewed by AMC in January 2020, and it will return for a sixth and final season in April 2022 after COVID-related production delays.
