They Wanted Badly to Start a Family
René and Céline wanted to have a family together, but had trouble conceiving. Céline eventually had to undergo surgery twice at a clinic in New York, so that she could improve her chances of having a child. This was after trying IVF several times, which was unfortunately unsuccessful for the couple. Eventually, however, René and Céline were able to welcome a son, René-Charles Angélil, into the world- he was born on the 25th of January, 2001.

Celine Helped Her Children Prepare for Their Dad’s Passing
Because of René’s illness, Céline had to help her children to understand that René was going to pass away. Céline was asked about how she feels about helping their children through it, and she said she is “proud of the way [she] prepared [her] boys for their dad’s death. In life, you never know what’s going to happen, so you should never wait for tomorrow to do what can be done today, to say I love you, or send a thank-you note…The future is now.”
